My husband was recently clotheslined (for lack of a better word) while riding his bike. Basically, a lady in the stopped traffic opened her passenger door into him while he was riding by. Pinning him in the neck between her door and a parked vehicle. He was in the bike lane when it happened. And (thankfully) he has no injuries. But the bike is brand new and I have some concerns about safety now that it has been in a frontal impact. The insurance company has offered to send it out to have it tested for micro fractures. Do you know how they do this? Will it really show that the frame is sound?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, the frame can be tested for microfractures by any good aeronautics company... the problem is that it will cost more than a new bike to do it correctly. When I have a CF frame tested prior to placing it in production it costs in the neighborhood of $8000 and takes about 3 weeks.

Once a CF bike has had a collision- especially a front end collision- trash the frame. Unless the insurance company will also have the frame x-rayed there is little chance of being certain that there is no damage. I am making the assumption that the fork and front wheel will be replaced without question.

In any event, if you have the frame tested be absolutely sure you get written certification and test results from the TESTING company, not the INSURANCE company.
