The new TealLock 6.51 is out after a complete ground-up rewrite, and the release of the "most" expensive version ($34.95) . . . "Enterprise Edition." This goes even beyond the Corporate edition and provides the option of not only blowfish but now AES 128 bit encryption. It is one of the most outstanding applications I've ever seen and towers over "regular" and "Corporate" Teal Lock editions.
I'm a long time TealLock user but gave it up several months ago because of timed backups - I didn't want CardBackup and TealBackup files "backed up encrypted," because the unit was locked @ time of backup. My little "system" gets complicated. Anyway, that's all gone away as an issue now - there is an added option to only encrypt files after an unsuccessful log in attempt! Woo Hoo! So it turns off and on faster, and doesn't have to do its "encryp/decryp" thing at power up/power off unless the code's put in incorrectly. While probably safer to have it activated all the time (files encrypted) - if you've got it on and off all day and have automated backups twice a day - as I do - then this is a godsend.
Also, you are now allowed to pick MULTIPLE apps to be allowed to run while locked - you guessed it - TealBackup, an Alarm proggie and CardBackup in my case . . . and all go without hitch. Here's my drill . . .
The alarm wakes me up, even from my dreaded night-prior Guinness haze. I tap the screen to turn it off. TealBackup, also allowed to run while locked, tells me the backup was successful and asks me if I want to delete the log file (which I always do, I wish I could defeat logging altogether). Then I power it off. Done. I'm awake, I'm backed up, and the next time I turn it on I have a choice of entering the PW or entering a quick PW (with a time limit for data entry!). It's just so cool and complete and worth the money.
Outstanding improvement to what was always a premier TealPoint application - I remember "Sara" sending me a CD of trials when I purchased TealMover way back when - and asked her about TealLock. Reason I asked? Because another $30-40 (I fogot the price, but it was high) security app completely hosed my M505 and I needed a hard reset.
I am running TealLock in FLASH by the way - with the recommended backup file created (see instructions) also put in flash. For those of you with Jack Flash, you'll have to set prefs to "even show apps that can't be put in flash" and then disregard the warning you get when flashing the "settings file" saying "this won't work in flash." It's a safety measure from Brayder, but the file will in fact work in flash. Then, should someone steal the unit and automatically hard-reset it . . . guess what - they're still outta luck.
"Locky locky, shamey shamey!! - you'll have to get up a little earlier than THAT, Mr. PDA crook!"
Your "return to owner" info pops up, and even if they don't hard reset, after so many tries data will self destruct (if chosen under prefs).
In the event you have a Treo, it gets even better . . you can even set it up to be unlocked with a phone call, or to dial a certain # (911 is default) when the unit is locked - plus have admin, user and guest passswords! A simply rocking accomplishment from the folks that still give a damn . . . Tealpoint.
The angels sang. BTW - TealBackup encrypts my backup files too - so I'm all set. After all, I can't have my shopping list (dish soap, toilet paper, more tinfoil for my new hats) falling into the wrong hands . . . just buy this thing.

Addendum: While TealLock "Enterprise" and "Corporate Edition" are usually for folks that own companies with multiple handhelds, it does provide a lot more benefit to single users - namely some or all of the points I mention above. I'd recommend you spend the extra and get some REAL benefits; while the "regular" and "lite" versions are fine, "Enterprise" is what you really need and what I upgraded to in order to get the REAL benefits of this great application. Furthermore it's written in their new "architecture," which frankly I don't understand - but it's more straightforward and hopefully "portable" to other forms of Palm OS should things change in the future.
