Tension wire replacement in Power X bike?

I have a Power X mountain bike. Well, two actually...I'm using them both for a single, working bike. I need to replace a tension wire on the one I'm going to keep, but I can't get the old one out of the gear shift housing! I need to know how to get it out, and how to put a new one in. Thanks!
