I'm taking a high school philosophy class on education. These are some questions I'm just curious about because we have to design our own schooling system and I'm just wondering what other people's perspectives are.
Most thorough, contemplative answer will earn the ten points =)
Should schooling be mandatory?
What should we teach the kids?
Do we really need core classes such as math, humanities, etc.?
Even if we're not going to use them later in our life?
How do we get kids interested in school?
How do we teach and encourage life long learning?
Our school system and society are really abstract ideas--should we just start over from scratch?
Is our current system working?
What are some problems you see with the current system?
