the behavior in your class is a reflection of your teaching abilities and classroom management abilities? Do you ever get the feeling like, "This student wouldn't be in the principal's office if I were a better disciplinarian"?
I'm a first year teacher, and today I have the first student in my class to be in modified ISS. I know it's not my fault, but I still feel like it reflects on my abilities as a teacher. His behavior has been getting worse and worse all year. In January alone I had to send notes home to his parents more than 15 days. They just send them back signed, but his behavior doesn't improve. And they won't do anything to help me out.
Teachers who have been there/done that...how do I not take it so personally?
