Te or Zire

If she needs a Palm to use basically as anorganizer with a few multimedia features, the T|E will do just fine. If she wants one that can expand into things like wifi, the Zire 72 would be a better buy.
 
The zire 72 has always come off to me as a gimmicky toyish organizer. The T|E is more solidly built, and is designed for the entry level business person, student, or other people who need to keep organized, but are on a budget.
 
The Zire 72 has a voice recorder...the TE doesn't. Given those options, I'd get the Zire 72.

Another thing to consider is the size. If your wife has smallish hands, the Zire 72 would be easier to hold.

i think a TE. Except i suspect the power sled does not work, there beng to connector ont he bottom. What is the battery life compared to her old 505?

If you're saying the connector on the T|E is not the same as the one on her 505 then you are correct. The 505 had the previously standard universal connector while the T|E has the newer USB connector. The T|E also does not come with a cradle standard, just the sync/power cord.

The battery life of the T|E is much less compared to the 505. The battery in the T|E is 850 mAh compared to the standard 650 mAh in the 505. This battey has to run a faster processor and a brighter, high resolution screen on the T|E so you'll find the T|E will give only about half the battery life of the 505.
