I have been in a student loan repayment program and have one or two more payments until it is out of default. My dad's girlfriend works for a student loan collection agency and they have seen a lot of the loans not showing people being offset. She can look at the Department of Education's screen and it will tell her there. I called the agency I am working with and they do not have the DOD screen so they couldn't tell me. The person I spoke with said he had it at a previous job. I had called the 1-800-304-3107 number and it says no debts are found. Should I go ahead and e-file with 100 percent certainty that my husband and I will get our refund? For tax year 2007 we filed the injured spouse. Has anyone experienced the 800 number telling them they didn't owe and still had their taxes withheld? Thanks everyone!

if it's saying you owe no debts on the 1-800 number then you should get your refund then.your ss# had to be flagged by 12/31/2008 if your refund was going to be captured this year, since the offset number said no then they must have lifted the flag from your social security number.file your tax return.good luck
