Tax on my new car....help please?

Well i got my new car 3 days ago and it's sitting in the driveway at home - i have gotten my insurance sorted out today but i won't receive my certificate for maybe 4 days ( cause of the bank holiday) and i need to get my tax done.

I can't go into the post office as i don't have my certificate yet ( even though my insurance kicked in since midnight) and i think i will pay my tax over the phone today.

But i need to drive to my parents house for the weekend break, so can i take my car?

I have my full license, insurance and my tax will have been paid - i just won't have got my new disc in the post yet - so even if checks are done, police can tell it's all been paid.

As ive been driving for 6 months, should this be ok?

Cause i'm thinking, i can just say ( if i do get pulled over) that it has been paid ( and they can check) and i didn't know i had to wait for the new disc before i could take the car.

Think this may be ok?

Thanks :)

If it is a new car it should have come with a tax disc on it. You will have paid for one included in the purchase price.

If it has not you get get a tax disc online. Be sure to print the DVLA confirmation and carry it with you in the vehicle until the disc arrives in the post.
