Talking my parents into a cellphone?

So I'm turning 14 in July, and going into High School. Starting in July, I will have to juggle friends, vacation, summer camp, marching band, and piano practice. My parents know that I want, and am going to need one soon. They are both very resistant to me getting one, because 2 of my friends have had their phones taken away multiple times, but not for really bad things. They dont want a phone to take over my life, and thats a huge reason they dont want me to have one. They also say I badger them too much about one, although I dont think I talk too much about them. I want to show my parents that I am responsible enough for one, and that I wont get into trouble with one. I've been working extra hard in school, and I ended up with better grades then ever before, I've been babysitting, watching the neighbor's dogs, and getting involved in more activites, but their still not thinking on my page.
I need a creative, yet helpful way to show them.
Thanks

Get a home phone and pay that off for a bit and then your parents may trust you w/ a cell phone. Cell phone companies have too many "what-ifs" and they like to charge heavily for them. I'm sure you folks don't want a $1200 bill showing up at their house. Land lines don't charge the same way so if you fudged on paying or talked too much (which you can't do), your folks can still afford the bill.
