Taking my T-mobile phone overseas, any extra cost?

I'm travelling to Egypt. What do I need to get my T-mobile phone work there and access the internet? Should I coordinate with T-mobile? If it pickes the signal, does it cost extra; over my existing plan; to make calls to US numbers, local numbers there or access the internet ?
