Can anyone help me answer this question----
Analyze why individuals often had to take the law into their own hands during the early days of the American frontier?

Now every town has a lawman let alone a judge. A US Marshall most of the time was many miles away. Some times a judge had to be brought in from another town to hear cases. Of course then you have those individuals who thought they had the right to be the judge and jury.
