Taken (2008)

2008 film with Liam Neeson. I saw it today for the first time and thought it was brill. The storyline is a portrayal of a serious issue of sex trafficking, and the acting in it is top class with Neeson giving a performance in a role I didn't think he was suited for, but he nailed it. Also maggie grace (Shannon in lost) is great too.

Apparently there's talk of a sequel which I think could work.

What do you all think of the movie?

It's a great movie. It has you on the edge of your seat within ten minutes of the movie starting because Nesson's character is interesting. You want him to succeed in his mission because the situation he is put in is so horrific and he pulls no punches (forgive the pun) in achieving his goal.

No question Neeson makes the movie. The action is well-staged but having someone who can genuinely act in the lead of that kind of action role makes it a real cut above the average. The scene where the daughter is taken is tremendous.

It's a perfect Saturday night film. Admittedly, some parts are completely ridiculous (Holly Valance as a famous singer?!) but it all adRAB to the fun.

It's one of those films that sells consistently well on dvd. I think it's been in play.com's top 20 sellers ever since it came out. It's currently at number one! It would be great to see a sequel.

That's what I felt. And the fact that the whole thing really kicks off after less than 10 minutes is good as well - no long winded characterizations or anything like that.

I'll spoiler this bit just in case ..

When he finally gets his daughter and she says "You came for me.." it really leaves a lump in your throat .

Neeson was great in the movie, he made the character a likable, ordinary sort of bloke, until you got on the wrong side of him!

I'd like to see a sequel as long as it wasn't a rehash of the first movie and I'd like to see more of Neeson's CIA buddies in action next time.

I absolutely loved this movie!! I saw it on sky and thought it was a horror (I don't usually watch action films) but I was drawn in straight away, it was such a good movie!! a sequel would be amazing

Fantastic movie, the action was really well filmed, not confusing like a lot of movies recently. Liam Neeson is a scary guy in it! The whole 'particular set of skills' speech he gives to the guy on the phone is superb. :)

really enjoyed it also. only came to NZ cinemas last year - i had no idea it was out in 08 here.
that speech on the mobile phone to the bad guy is so good.

it actually has a good strong following. people just love it.

certainly the best of the recent Luc Besson produced films anyway.
