t5 purchase

formerly used a 515 and was talked into a pocket pc, which is normally dead. Loved the 515, and am switching back to OS, after researching. Leaning toward the t5, but am waiting a week or so, to see what happens with all the talk of the E2 and lifeline. Still believe i will go with the t5. Busineess user, will use heavily the doc to go, PIM, list, contacts, etc. Some casual music listening and perhaps some book reading as well. Not much into games or web browsing. With that said the crtics on the t5 as i see them are the lack of wi-fi (no big deal to me) the lack of vibrate (again not needed for me) the plastic case (like the steel but most Pda's are plastic and the t5 appears at the high end of the plastic scale), and the issue with bugs and resets. That last is the part that concerns me the most. I have been researching differenct software aps to put on it, and am leaning towards the agendus pro, neat freak for file cleanng, pocket tunes and some list program such as list pro. Are there other programs that focus will pimarily to help reduce the issues of resets and bugs in the unit that I should strongly consider. my impresssion is that the favorites launcher on t5 is pretty good in itself, thus perhaps not really needing something like zlauncher. But what about items like tealscript or some other software, that could be helpful. Thanks tac.

Life Drive will be out shortly and for the price , if it is $499 you may want to wait.

I have Agendus Pro on my T5 with minor bug issues - and each issue has a work around.

Tealscript works fine.

Can't say about the others.

The T5 is like any other piece of "early adopted" hardware - it's when you pick up something new like a T5 it will have issues compared to existing hardware.....hasn't failed yet. And I have been an early adopter of nearly every piece of hardware put out by Palm and some Sony's as well as Handspring stuff. They all caused issues when first used.

The T5 NVFS system will take a while for all of the developers to understand. It's been about 6 months and most are handling the switch but some just sit back and wait.

The life drive will no doubt cause the same or similar issues so.....

Mooseman,

You seem sure of the release of lifeDrive? :D Got some insider info? Just kidding. But it does seem as if its gonna be out according to the forum link above. 499 is steep to say the least. But if the micro drive's the issue, then why not put in a smaller one instead and have a CF slot? Hm..

Moose,
Thanks for the link. I just noticed something about the pictures. The device at the bottom left is different than the 2 with all the parts labelled. The differences I noticed include the following:

1. The color of the button panel is black on the lower device, while the other 2 are silver.

2. The shape of the D Pad is different. The lower one is a circle shape.

With these differences, it could be that one of the designs is the E2 and the other design is the Life Drive. I think the device with the dark panel buttons and the circle shaped D pad is the E2.

What do you think?

dwinget,

You could be right but I'd think that the first picture is a pre-production unit.

The one with all of the identifying marks and the rest of the screen shots showing the desktop components etc.....that's real. If it's not, someone sure has gone to a lot of trouble to pull the wool over our eyes.

P1 is due to release something as they normally do this time of year. There is also a link to a Treo 670 at PIC now that is using Windows Pocket PC software instead of Palm......that's more of a hoax until real pictures show up but I still am wondering about lifedrive using a new fangled DTG that has some sort of ActiveSync Office Compatibility option.

DTG would have to have bundled something new in the way of an email client....imho.

Only time will tell.

check this out guys....

TE2 and Lifedrive

the LD pics are all probably promotional mockups, all rendered images, not real photos. There are grounds, I think, to believe that LD may not be real, but it seems that the TE2 as shown in the link is a cast-iron certainty...

The specs for the LD are the only question in my mind. The copy of the T E2 would be easily reproduced but to totally create a picture of the LD unit would be difficult but not impossible.

The windows desktop component shot for the Life Drive and it's capability etc....if it's a hoax someone went to a great deal of trouble....time will tell.
