T5 Ordered

Well,

As I await the date when I will receive my Blackberry 7100t/phone I decided to take the plunge and go ahead and order a T5.

The company has delayed launching the T-E until further notice and the T5 can serve as a "test" bed for development of our Goldmine integration with a standalone PRC based upon Mobile Database.

Since by the time our company gets around to launching a Palm handheld configuration most of the stuff will probably use the Flash Memory and I'll be leaps and bounds ahead of the curve.

And since I've got all of my kids using either my old T or T3 and don't want to take them back........I'm taking the plunge.

The special bundle that P1 put out with regards to the wireless keyboard for free helped push me over the edge.

I'll let you all know what I "think" about the T5 after I've played with it. But since the Treo will be getting "shelved" when the 7100t arrives, I wanted something in a High Res version to keep me in the Palm OS.

Head's up!

Make certain you ONLY USE the updated Universal Wireless keyboard driver from P1 (version 1.05 dated 12/13/05).

The one on CD causes WSOD on T3 (and maybe on other PDAs). This has caused many users frustration as it requires a "very hard reset" - which means only battery disconnection/reconnection cures issue.

The updated UW KBD driver (1.05) does have problems with the Phone Link Update of 11/29/04. If both are installed, then UW KBD driver (app) will cause Fatal Exception.

My T5 is arriving today. I was thinking about the wireless keyboard driver. I had a difficult time with the wireless keboard on T3 so I didn't use it, I used the older one. Thanks for the warning about this, not having to have a hard set is certainly desirable
Thanks,
Carol Casey

Well the great test of course will be that the "bundled" free keyboard that is arriving today does not have the Fatal Error associated with it.

Not sure if I'll get the device totally set up today because of work and timing conflicts but by the weekend when I'm back in the office.

I'll let you know.

Well working on mine....it is interesting to decifer everything, determine what works and what doesn't. Nothing has crashed and burned yet....only seems like I had to start at ground level for installation....backupbuddy files wouldn't work well, had to format card and reinstall everything. Had to go with Backup Buddy pro. Not that bad, but not as quick of a process that I would have appreciated....

Iv got a t5, and its continually crashing.

Can anyone tell me y???

Its brand new for xmas, and Iv only downloaded stuff from official sites.

What do you reckon ???

It is difficult to answer your question without specific information such as error messages that pop up or what applications you are trying to install.

Sometimes it just crashes while turning it on via the hotkeys.

Then the screen either just turns into several different coloured dots or a message comes up with "Fatal Exeption"

It's late and this will be short but I've not had any unexplained crashes on the T5. It's been loaded with Agendus 9.02, Mobile Database, DTG Premium Edition, Crash Pro, FileZ, PowerOne PE, Expense Diary, Automobile and Icon Manager plus Text Plus.

I've got more to load but so far the T5 is functioning perfectly. I have not downloaded any patches nor installed the Keyboard driver that will have to wait.

As dwinget states....we'd need more information in order to tell you what the problem might be.

For Now....very happy with T5.

Hello all;

I know that I am so infrequent coming here, but I did want to share my T5 news here too. I got my T5 last Sat and it has been somewhat pleasurable. The only issue seems to have come from using Facer as it would cause a memory manager crash after each sync and occasionally when going to Facer from another program. Other than that, it has been quite stable. I have been using it much as my main computer since my laptop is not able to get online. Surfing via BT has been great. I upgraded from a TE and basically have been quite pleased. Though I admit that I did have much of the functionality on my TE with other purchased software, it is great to see things work well when they are included on the device. Now if only the P1 Files program read the program memory, that would be great as I like its functionality better than that of Filez.

Moose, happy palming and congrats :)

As I reinstall what Backup Buddy didn't capture, I have had to hard reset twice (and this is a person who uses a lot of applications and has an extensive list of Handbase Applets). I have not had any problems with the two hard resets. In fact, I find it substantially easier than the previous palms I have had (Palm VX, Palm M515, T3, and now T5).
I am becoming more and more accustomed to my new third hand and my second brain. Getting use to the internal the storage and internal card storage and my expansion card is interesting and a learning experience.
Between the internal storage, internal card storage, and expansion card I have 1.256 gigs of storage. The biggest decision I have faced is where to store what on my PDA. If that is the only decision I have to make with this thing it will be a walk in the park.
With my purchase I got a wireless keyboard and with the submission of my broken T3 I got a hard case that I am discovering that I really like. I didn't think I would like it, but what a difference....I like it.
All and all, it is just like before, all of my relucance, apprehension, and worry was for essentially nothing and wasted energy.
I will keep you all updated if I have issues I need assistance with or find something that is unique I want to share...
Oh and all the Teal products are working like a dream...

What did I tell ya, MooseMan?? The T5 is a great PDA...now if palmOne would get around to releaseing an OS6.1 upgrade, I might be happier.

My current relationship with P1 is less than rosy at the moment though. Their exchange program is the epitome of stupidity, and their techs are what one would call...idiots. Why can't everyone have support like IBM??

Again, congrats on the T5...except for the dynamic heap, it's great. Glad you saw the light! :D

I was talking about the issues with the NEW P1 Universal Wireless Keyboard Driver, not normal hard resetting.

Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

I'll equate the T5 as being similar in it's software glitches as when the Tungsten T first launched OS5.

There is enough difference in the Memory Stack and other 5.4 variants to cause problems.

Some programs won't work or will cause issues. I've noticed that most problems occur at the end of the hot sync when it's syncing Queries.pdb.....

The Queries file is new and distinct to the 5.

I only was able to understand the part about God creating beer and ugly girls, but don't understand enough to get the punch line.

English translation please. :D

Exactly....except it is a little more profane then that if you did the exact translation.

Been gone working on the road for 28 days....this is coming from Hawaii. Be home on Saturday late.....wonder if Moosedesto has washed away in all of the rain we've had while I've been gone.

The wife hasn't said anything other than it's raining the whole time.

T5 has become very stable based upon the programs that I normally use. Haven't had a reset since the first load or so and discovered which programs were problems.

Memory stack will cause some issues and for those of you wondering the T5 reboot is quite long....nearly a full minute because of the internal SD card.

I would probably agree with you if it wasnt also an issue of the PACE Emulator being new as well. There seems to be some issue with HotSync reading from particular changes in the PACE68k databases. I wish that I could see HotSync a bit more indepth becasue then it would be easier to tell if it is an issue on palmOne's or PalmSource's side. My guess is that both did a little that did a lot.

Hope your T5 is blessing you regardless of the crashes.
