Cheers BOB!!
It's not a soapbox. It's a series of statements of fact and concern!! Yep. "Lost the plot" is right. BLOWS, doesn't it?
At least you've got a T3. Good man. My 2nd choice for a "spare" (since I've got my T3 TWEAKED and have no real need for a new one unless it breaks) would actually be a Tapwave Zodiac2. OS5.2 (same as T3), 128MB of memory, a little weird looking for a "non-gamer," but at least it's constant "landscape" albeit horizontal. ONly drag is I looked at one at Fry's (along with the RyeCrisp) and could make it flash "dangerously close to crashing, just be repeatedly hitting or holding a button. Oh oh. Hopefully it was the "demo" being wonky.
Don't waste your time fretting over OS6 - it's my feeling it will never come. Hell, they can't handle WIFI, for heaven's sake.
"Someone's" version of OS6 will either be Linux and skinnable for PPC and PALM, or P1 won't survive long enough. It's been put off twice . . . and for my money they should have shelved 5.4 too. They should instead developed new T3/4 and TE/TE2 models keeping OS5.2, with Treo phone models and increased WiFi capability for people who wanted ONE unit to be phone and PDA.
I've always thought a phone should be a good one, and a Palm should be a good one - and a Treo ain't a T3 - can't vouch for how good a PHONE it is.
With TealAlias, JackSprat/JackFlash, and a new product that's taking its time but will offer A LOT, you will be able to have virtually unlimited "room" on your T3. You're wise to look around for another one, and I will do the same although probably left it too late (I've been buried in PC stuff and not wearing my "Palm Hat" enough over the last couple of months!). If you tweak the T3 right, it'll be a long time before ANYTHING can surpass it for raw ability and storage.
You got a good one. Carol: You can always look for another T3, keep the T5, and you'll be one of the resident experts on T5/OS 5.4 stuff! It's all good in the long run.
I'm "patiently" (HAHAHAHA!!!) waiting for the "next shoe to drop" . . . something that will allow me to use my OS 5.2 Bonsai/Teal/Agendus proggies, but with a new face, a gain in power and new capabilities. Linux could do that. Apple could do that.
P1 won't.
