T4 Rumors -

Does anyone have any "testing information" on whether our current apps work in Cobalt or if we'll need 42,000 upgrades for compatibility?

If everything needs a tweak I'll almost certainly give it a pass - if 90% of them are okay, I'll try cobablt. I'm hopeful the digitizer "1/16" nightmare" is fixed, and battery life is better.

With a little luck they've sorted out the SD CArd software and we won't need patches for the next 4 months to get it to work, but don't hold your breath.

Also 450MHz would be nice and the 2nd slot is a huge deal for those of you who want the WiFi thing - you shouldn't have to do without a "fixed SD extension" for programs and data just to have Wifi. Half the stuff you'll be sending is probably on the 2nd card anyway!! It would be with me. Why have an SD Card if you can't store data to send versus the handheld?.

All in all I appreciate this post very much . . . we'd better start trying to figure out what exactly is DIFFERENT with the T4 NOW, even if we're wrong . . . otherwise we're all just flying blind. It will be a chance to some "I"m giving up on Palm and getting a Sony" individuals to "come back home," provided PalmOne fixes some of the bugs we all had to endure on the T3.

Thanks for the good rumor!

I'm concerned about the Wireless G support and not Wireless B. While Wireless G is faster it is also more power hungry.

Guess we will have to wait and see...

Are we really hoping against hope that all our prayers will be answered with the 'T4'? You can call me a cynic but surely in the name of keeping us diehards hooked, a few of our wishes will be answered, but not all!

I'm sure that this is how folks get hooked on 'illegal' substances......

It's like the diamond market . . . bleed 'em out one at a time and it keeps the price up.

I learned 2 days ago that 13MegaPixel cameras are already in the can . . . but the most you can get right now (I think) is the Sony 828 at 8MPxls. Why release 13 now when you can get another 3 sales cycles with "new" models" over the next year?!

Same with the T4. I'm sure it will be "better," but not as good as it could have been or will be in 1-2 short "model upgrades," say April of '05.

I do applaud PalmOne, however, for TAKING THEIR TIME on this one - hopefully alleviating the "patches" necessary with the T3. It might well be a good thing to take it slow with advancements, making sure those advancements don't cause more grief.

It's my hunch that the T4 will be a much more STABLE unit -- and that's a good thing, regardless of how many improvements are actually made for us "die-hards." I'd rather it WORK and then wait for further developments. The T3 was rushed - and it shows.

There's an NDA poster in that rumor thread who says the real deal will be nothing like either of the two rumored machines, but will instead be some "crazy sh!t"

Hmmm.... how crazy can it get I wonder?

Maybe the Tungsten line along with it's design dies at OS 5 just like it began there and there will be a complete new line of Cobalt powered PDAs that will radically change the entire concept.

In the meantime, the boys at rabroad have perfected the T3.5.... 1200mAh battery in a T3. 5 hour benchmark with batterytest. Yikes!

I would tend to agree...I wouldnt be at all surprised to see a new form factor..remember the tungsten series that came along with OS5..just a thought.

BTW..seems very unlikely that they will use wirelessG...doesnt make any sense at all to me.
