T3 PALM powered screen won't go away

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tried to turn on unit this morning, blank screen. Recharged and all I get is the Palm Powered logo with the green light on or off. Can't turn off manually. Soft reset causes screen to go blank until I remove stylus and then logo reappears with green light off. Won't do a hot sync either. Please advise.....anybody. Thanks. Steve

Looks like it's time for a hard reset - hold down the power button and then hit the reset hole and continue to hold down the power button until the screen refreshes and then release. Hit up to delete all records.

Warm Reset - hold down on the up portion of the dpad at the same time as you hit the reset hole....this will sometimes bypass an errant program. If not, then hard reset is the only way to go....hope you have your data backed up.

Thanks Moose Man. Soft and Warm didn't do anything, so I sucked it up and did the Hard reset. My stuff was backup on on pc, so the transition went okay. Like everyone, I try to avoid the hard reset, but sometimes like this time there was no choice. I have no idea what caused this problem, so as far as preventive measures are concerned I am at a loss. I'll just continue to sync daily and hope my hard reset options don't expire. Thanks again for your input.

Well - a hard reset is not all that uncommon in my 10 years+ of Palm'ing. I'd suspect that a software program caused the glitch and just wouldn't release the device.....there are user preferences that are set in the various programs and sometimes these can come into conflict with another program.

The only way they can be restarted is sometimes a hard reset.

If you added some software recently then you might suspect that it got into conflict after hitting just the right combination of items it will "hang".

Hope it doesn't happen again....and hope all is well in Hawaii with the high surf!

ACK!!! I had the same problem, and did a hard reset as you recommended, but the screen's just white and cannot be shut off. Should I just wait for the battery to die? What can I do?
