T3 digitizer replacement- inadvertent clicks

Hey gang:

I had a dead t3 digitizer so I purchased a new one and installed it. Now it does these inadvertent clicks. It is usually on the left side, sometimes it registers a tap because of pressure from my thumb on the frame, then other times it just seems to continue to register clicks on that same side whether or not my thumb is pressing on the frame.

Anyone have this happen? I've been looking at the frame and can't really see any reasons it would do this. I've thought of an option that would be purchasing a hard case or crystal case to surround the frame.

There may be something stuck between the case and the screen that is activating the touchscreen. When you put the handheld back together, were you careful with making sure nothing is touching the screen?

It sounds like either the screen is not physically aligned exactly in the housing or there is a problem with the touchscreen itself.

You may want to double check and make sure you installed the touchscreen correctly in the housing.

Here is a link to the support page for your handheld on palm.com.

Ok, that may be the issue. Have you maybe looked for a replacment case? You can find replacement parts on usedpdaparts.com or pdaparts.com.

I'm thinking about 1. replacement case 2. getting another used or refurb unit 3. chucking the whole thing and getting a treo gsm unit (kinda puts my dedicated universal keyboard out of the loop though) LOL

Thanks for your help. I really don't post to boards unless I'm stuck and palmone is not well . . . let's say BTDT

Update on situation- took a long hard investigation of the frame, and carefully bent it upward on the side of the extra taps. So far this seems to have cured it- no extra money spent! LOL I was worried that I'd crack or break the frame, but gentle pressure did the trick.

Good to hear you resolved the issue without using any $$$.

I see you stated you had an issue with the Palm forums?

Wanted to let you know that I post on that forum also and it has improved. There are more Palm techs answering posts. Give it a try next time.
