 Hi,
I hope some one can give me some advice,
I have a T3 and I purchased a bluetooth gps reciever from ebay.
It is discovered by the T3 and accepts the pairing, as soon as
I enter the code (0000) it accepts it and then disconnects straight
away.
When trying to use the gps reciever with tomtom 5 it states 'no gps device'
I have configured tomtom to use bluetooth other as the gps option.

Please can anyone help ,

Thanks,
Mandie.

TomTom uses a dedicated GPS receiver and I don't think it will work with any other? So if the GPS receiver you purchased isn't a TomTom then you may have an issue.

You can try TomTom's tech support but you won't get an answer until at least Tuesday as they are in Germany. And my personal experience, they won't be very helpful.

One other thing to set on the T3, just to be sure, is that BT is configured as Discoverable? If that isn't set to "on" then almost no device will work with that older version.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
It states that the reciever is compatable with Tomtom,
Bluetooth is set to discoverable.
As soon as I entered the passkey though it accepted it and then disconnected straight away,
I wonder if it is a connection issue with the T3 and reciever rather than a problem directly linked to Tomtom ?

Based upon my personal experience with TomTom and a T3 about 2 years ago it's a Tomtom problem.

Have you launched the TomTom software and are you getting any error message from it.....and are you outside where the receiver can get a signal?

Also, the pairing process is slightly different for each device - I'd suspect that once it's paired then the receiver has to be turned on seperately.

What kind of receiver is it.....more info might help.

Thanks for your help,
Errr, nope I wasn't outside :o
Works great when I am though :-)
So if anyone with a T3 is considering getting a GPS reciever
I highly recommend the ones aru_sharma is selling on ebay
(as long as you are outside :-)

Thanks for all help.

I have the same set up as you do and find it works very well. If it has recognised the GPS and you have married them it should work - is the GPS fully charged and are you using it outside and not too far apart - those are the only reasons I can think of - the palm would not recognise if not compatible. What make is your new GPS - I have a generic one that is just called Bluetooth GPS and it works very well - bought cheap on ebay

Hope this encourages you

i'm a T3 user and interested in purchasing a compatible bluetooth gps receiver. I've been to ebay and there seem to be a number of products listed, but it's not clear to me if they're all compatible with my T3. Wondered which product you were using and if you have any suggestions for avoiding compatability problems.
