t2 w/new battery still dies in 8 hours

I bought a t2 from ebay recently. It appeared to work fine, but the battery wouldn't last overnight.

I got a new battery from a reputable place, installed it, turned off bluetooth and beam receive, turned down the backlight, and...it still dies overnight. Auto lock is not engaged.

Any ideas? The new battery didn't fix the problem, so is there any way to diagnose? Or do I just chalk this one up to experience and sell it for parts?

Any help appreciated.

It sounds like if it won't hold the charge overnight that it's got an internal short to ground or other issue.

You can also check the Palm web site to see if there are any "patches" for your T2 that you may need to apply?

Here is the link to that area on the Palm web site: HERE

The help forum at Palm said the same thing. I'm going to try and pick up an old t2 with digitizer issues, and try and find enough usable parts to fix this and make one usable device. thanks.

Sometimes, when there is a short you can open the unit up and place a piece of tape over the offending place. I had this happen on a t2 and we fixed the unit by opening it and finding where it was shorting. you'll have to look at the contact points and play about a bit. If you don't want to mess or are afraid you might break something else in the unit, it might be best to sell for parts.

nilinesk8s sounds like you know about fixing stuff up- did you know that on the slider units that sometimes the digitizer gets off because they slip down a bit on the right side I think it is. Yes once again get out the tape - if that is the digitizer problem - if not, which digitizers often have 'issues' then so be it.

I'm not an expert by any means, but these things have helped me. It sounds like you guys know what you're doing so more palm power to ya!

I've taken this thing apart several times looking for something that would indicate a short. The only contacts that looked a bit cruddy were at the speaker. I cleaned those up w/o effect.

In a last ditch try, I've removed the sd card and I'll leave the pda out of the metal case, to see if there is something there. Otherwise, it'll go to Ebay for parts. thanks.
