T-Mobile weak at home

I am new to Tmobile from Sprint. I am very happy with it with the exception of one thing. I have a weak and sometimes non existant signal at home. Most of the other places I need a signal seem to be working very well.

I can go from three bars one second to none the next. When I am on the phone from home the signal is scratchy. I tried to switch my 8100 manually to the cingular network under options to check cingulars network at home too, but the phone sits and continues to search and never connects to it even thouigh I can select it manually.

I am wondering since they are both GSM if the signal will be the same, but I am tempted to go get one of their phones to try it out and see if it works better. If it does then return the Tmobile stuff and go with cingular.

Any suggestions?

My 8700 also sits and searches after manually switching to the Cingular network option in my bb and won't connect to it either, even though the email techs told me to try that option out. I have a great signal here, but still wanted to be able to switch it over if I was in a spot that wasn't so great. Hopefully someone will know what to do :-)

Well, because I do not want to be stuck with service I am not happy with I went and bought an 8300 Curve with ATT to try out their service. At my house where Tmobile has anything from searching..... to one bar, sometimes two bars, the ATT phone has three to four and sometimes even five bars. I really hate to switch, but I have to have a decent signal!

Can anyone here tell me what ATT does to their phones, ie: dumbs them down like Verizon does to their equipment, compared to Tmobile, where it seems that there is more included especially at their lower prices. From a lot of reading this is what I have picked up on. Those of you who have more experience please add more! I hate relying on salespeople for any info.

ATT BB Data is more $
No unlimited texting
No Yahoo Messenger (Don't care about this one at all)

Tmobile does not have good coverage until I walk just past my next door neighblors house, which it very quickly goes up to full strength! (Figures)
I can't stand the call answer lag any more. I updated my first Pearl to Cingular OS, but it then completely died. It reminded me of my TREO 650 days, ecchhh!

Maybe I should sell my house and buy one with better Tmobile service!

If you wait a little while longer you should be able to use wifi enabled handsets (like the 8320) for t-mobile @ home service. would allow (in theory) seamless switch over to your wireless internet connection for voice calls through your handset.

old story but check it out: t-mobile hotspot home finally launches in seattle

You can also register at www.t-mobile-takeaction.com . This will put your name and info on a list for the Engeneering dept to take with them to city and county planning meetings so that they can push to get more towers up in your area. The problem is, and i do love TMO, that Cingular/ATT, Verizon, and Sprint/ Nextel have been at this game a lot longer than Tmo. Tmo has made great strides in a short time but they are still growing. The reason this site is so important is that everyone wants to have better signal at thier home and such but no one wants to see the tower and towns/ city's will not allow companies to put up new towers without some arm twisting.
