Starting July 27, this summer-long deal will drop down payments on phones like the Samsung Galaxy S 4, HTC One, and iPhone 5. As part of T-Mobile's new un-carrier plan, customers can get a new smartphone without a contract for a one-time down payment - typically around $99 - and then monthly payments until the device is paid off.
The deal does not have a set end date; it's a "limited time promotion for the summer," a T-Mobile spokeswoman said.
So for the next month or two, customers can get a 16GB Samsung Galaxy S 4 for zero down and $25 per month for 24 months, or a Galaxy Note II for zero down and $27 per month for two years. Both normally require a $149.99 down payment. Those who buy the older Galaxy S III, meanwhile, can skip a $99.99 down payment and just pay $22 per month for 24 months. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet is also up for grabs for $20 per month.
Other Android-based smartphones available for zero down include the Sony Xperia Z (normally $99.99 down) and HTC One (now $79.99 down on T-Mobile website), both of which require monthly payments of $25.
T-Mobile will also ditch down payments for the iPhone 5 with $27 monthly payments, but only for the 16GB version, which normally requires an initial payment of $149.99. The 32GB and 64GB versions are available at their normal prices; $249.99 and $349.99 down, respectively.
For Windows Phone users, the Nokia Lumia 925 (normally $49.99) and Lumia 521 ($29.99) are dropping down payments for $20 and $5 monthly payments, respectively.
Finally, BlackBerry's QWERTY Q10 smartphone, which normally has a $99.99 down payment requirement will drop that and require $25 monthly payments.
Customers who like to have the latest and greatest smartphone will also have the option to sign up for T-Mobile's new Jump program, which allows for more frequent phone upgrades. After someone has been a T-Mobile customer for at least six months, they can upgrade devices up to two times a year. For more on that, check out AT&T Next vs. T-Mobile Jump: Smoke and Mirrors?
