Hi,
My brother has just given me his unlocked iPhone 3GS after upgrading to the 4. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it and it's in fairly good condition, however my T-Mobile sim won't work in the phone. It was officially unlocked in the Apple shop whilst he upgraded so it cannot be that since it was originally O2 it will still only accept O2 sim cards. When I insert my T-Mobile sim it either says 'Sim failure' or 'no sim card installed'.
The problem that we think it has is that the actual gold chip on the back of the T-Mobile sim is partially covered by the small tray for the sim which goes into the iPhone. On the old O2 sim this gold chip is fully exposed to whatever is inside the phone. Do you think the fact that the T-Mobile sim is the 'wrong shape' is possibly the problem since there isn't anything obviously wrong with it?
Also, what would you suggest to solve this problem?
Thanks so much!
Additional Q - How much normally does it cost to cancel a T-Mobile contract if any of you have done it?
