t-mobile my touch 4g on pre-paid plan?

i am really considering buying a t-mobile my touch 4g with out a contract.And getting a pre-paid t-mobile plan with it.since it's a 4g phone and the pre-paid service is 3g,will it still work? and will i be able to video chat with the front-facing camera on a pre-paid plan?
