T-Mobile in North Carolina

T-Mobile does have service in Elizabeth City, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and a few other areas of NE NC, which comes out of the Virginia Beach service area license. They don't seem to want to sell service there, though. You may be able to talk them into it with these ZIPs (look on their coverage maps -- there's native coverage!):
27909 (Elizabeth City)
27949 (Kitty Hawk, Duck)
27948 (Kill Devil Kills)
27959 (Nags Head)

(An 803 area code might be better for Charlotte-area residents, as Rock Hill is on 803, so it's not unusual at all.)

Using the same provider as Ben (I talked to him before hand to find out what he did and talked to the sales reps and i worked for me as well) I was able to get an 803 area code (Aiken, SC) as that is the nearest T-Mo service as stated earlier. I am in Greensboro, NC and have had no problems with T-Mo and have called them several times. In fact, I ordered 2 of the Linksys routers (I have 2 new lines of service so am good for 2 of the rebates) and had them sent to my NC address without issue. They have so many roaming agreements that they said it would be no problem even if I am roaming 100% of the time, even though with H@H I am actually on T-Mo service across the internet. I just signed up for service around the 3 of October and so far no issues what-so-ever. Hopes this helpds some.

I am a transplant to NC, and I decided to keep my TMO service, and it works fine. I was also reassured by the acquisition of SunCom.

I kept my old number.

I work for an independent dealer in Camp Lejeune, NC and we (as far a I know) are the only people who sell phones in NC, except for another location we have in Fayettville. I have tmobile and absolutely love them. I never have had a problem with reception but I am always on Suncom. It kind of funny because we mostly sell to Marines and they are always from somewhere else so they don't mind that we don't have area codes in NC. Camp Lejuene is area code 910 but we don't have any area codes here. We do have area code 252 which is out of Elizabeth City. I actually have fun just randomly picking area codes for customers who don't care.
