We are thinking of getting it, it sounds good but wanted to know if anyone on here is using it could give me any feedback on it?
We already have a home phone, cable internet, i know we would need to get a Tmobile at home HiPort.

Thanks for any information you guys provide me

I have used this for 2 lines pretty much since the test market launch in DFW. They initally had a lot of technical issues, most of which have been cleared up. I still have occassional need to reboot the router due to the line dropping off (the thing that sux is you only find out you dont have service when you try to use the phone) I would say this still happens once or twice a month.

I also occasionally have issues when making a call that it takes 3 to 4 tries to get out.

In summary, if it is CRITICAL that you have reliable service you may want to wait...if you can live with the occasional technical glitch then go for it. Voice quality is great. Features for the price cant be beat. I see you have an 8320 and the @home router does have the wireless for your UMA as well.

There are a few affects on your plan you need to be aware of. If you have a family plan this counts towards the 5 line maximum. It does require an agreement, and you have to have an existing plan. I really am not sure what would happen if you added this and then cancelled your wireless plan later while your land line was still under contract ...

Any other questions just ask!

Usarmy,

Yes, UMA does use minutes unless you pay for the H @ H add on. You do however get the benefit of a nice, strong signal in your home (kinda like a personal tower) as well as faster data than the traditional EDGE.....

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i have the @home calling on my cell and setting up tmobile@home for my home phone line. Both services are great. Let me know if anyone has specific questions about either services as I have it and I work for t-mobile so I can get you some more detailed information. Send me a pm or pin me.

But its great whenever I go to starbucks with my wife I don't get charged for minutes when I am at home the samething. When I go to friends house or on to the local college campus for meetings etc no problem. It definately a great deal.

I guess I need to make it clear that I am referring to the VOIP / Land Line service, not the UMA Hotspot at Home service in my original post. I also use the UMA / H @ H with my 8320 and the ONLY issue I have is that the system does not handle the hand off from UMA to EDGE well (drops 99.99 % of the time). Otherwise I am very happy with that service!

I work for an independent dealer and we use the @Home service in all of our stores. I think its great havent had any problems with it at all the only problem is that you cannot use it as a fax line

I have been using mine since a month before launch and loved it enough that after 5 years of not having a home phone I decided to stay with mine after the promo I had when I won it. Gary's reported issues are about the same as mine (except I notice it because of where the router is located ). We just transferred both of our store lines onto the service this month and have had very minor issues. The biggest one is on line length which we are planning on adding a tone amplifier to solve that issue but we are talking about 3000 square feet with multiple phones on multiple phone jacks in a business.

hi - I've been with T-Mobile since "voicestream" days... started with the plan under my own name, switched it to my company name for a while, and just switched billing responsibility back to my own name tonight (lovely customer care lady!) so I could take advantage of the new T-Mobile@Home service for $10/month. Can't wait to dump verizon and at&t for local/long-distance landline and start saving about $60/month...

Anyway - I didn't order the router and dect 6 phones yet - figured I'd stop into a t-mobile corp store Saturday morning and make the purchase / set up the feature then...and do some research in the meantime...

The router looks fine - should fit my needs with no problem.

It's the DECT 6 phones I wonder about. I read that the unit is something like $59...and I've seen sets of DECT 6 phones at places like BJ's and Sams' Club for something like $120 for 6 units...

Questions are these:

1) Is there anything unique about the DECT 6 vtech phones that t-mobile provides?

2) Does the VMWI voicemail indicator on the DECT 6 units (and T-Mobile's voicemail) use "industry standard" FSK to trigger the voicemail indicator light? From the bit I read online tonight, it seems that FSK and the old Bell "stutter tone" are the two basic industry standards used to trigger VMWI lights on handsets. If T-Mobile uses this to trigger the indicator lights, then theoretically ANY DECT 6 phones that "work with your phone company's voicemail" (i.e., they're sensitive to both FSK and stutter tones) should work fine with T-Mobile@Home voicemail, and the indicator should come on / shut off properly even if you buy the phones from Best Buy or Sam's...

Make sense?

Thanks in advance!

I do not like the fact that they charge $150 for the router. I almost did it just to get away from at&t. but instead went with comcast at $20 a line and no $150 up front charge or contract to sign.
I use UMA at home with my curve and like it but still have to use A land line when UMA is not working right.

Hey T-mobile I have been with you for so long (ten years) and just bought two tmobile routers you should offer a free router for the land lines with a two year contract.

As I understand it, the router is $50 with a 2 year contract -- pretty sure you pay $150 if you want to avoid the contract. Pity, though, that this service didn't become available before hotspot@home: if you get the router for t-mobile@home (landline) you can continue to use that same one for hotspot@home -- just not the other way around.

Although Comcast doesn't charge for an extra router, the difference in per-line price comes to $120 per year -- by the end of year two I'll have saved money over going with Comcast. I'm gambling that I'll like the service, but if my experience matches most of the others that I've read about, it should be fine.

I've been with T-Mobile for a decade as well, and also wish there would be some more consideration of that when I'm opting for plan changes, etc. But overall, I'm still happier with what they're offering me for the price than the alternatives, so I'm staying there for now.

@Jonnyxedge (or anyone else who might know): I'd be very interested in finding out about the VMWI lights on the handsets -- if T-Mobile@home's voicemail system uses industry-standard FSK or stutter tone to trigger it, that opens up a world of handset alternatives.

Thx!
