Major Disaster

I can't seem to find a subforum for service plans, so I've decided to post here...
I've been a T-mobile Sidekick guy (since the CSK1) but finally went with a BB since it is waaaay more stable and actually works >70% of the time.
I just got the 8320 w/o a plan so I didn't have to worry about a new contract. However, when I called T-mobile to get the BB Internet Service Plan (1000 minutes, unlimited email, txt, web $59.99), they told me that a one year commitment is required. I went through the fine print with them, and it seems to be a fact.
The only way to avoid the contract would be to add the "BB unlimited add-on" (unlimited email, web, NOT TXT $19.99) to my current voice plan, then tack on another txt package... *grumble* I'll save money if I had the BB Internet Serv Plan...
I was wondering what plans do people who purchase a T-mo BB w/o a contract usually end up getting? Since all the BB base plans require a commitment, doesn't that make the point of getting the phone w/o a contract mute? Is getting the BB unlimited add-on the only way to get a contract free BB which will work on T-mo?
