T-Mobile Blackberry in Guatemala

Before I left for Guatemala, I called T-Mobile CS to get International email put on both of my curves to use while I was down here. But since I arrived, I have had SOS!!!! What do I need to do to get my phone to work.

the might not have added the services, it's an international blackberry package it's an addtional 20 or 25$ which gives you the access you need. also there may be lack of roaming agreements with t-mobile down there, did you check to see if it would work, i assume it would work down there but not to sure

Yeah, the CS rep did say it was a additional 19.99, but would be prorated for 8 days since that's all I will be down here for. And the rep did mention that we would be able to use our phones down here.

im going to guatemala in febuary love of my life (disque) haha is there now i think u would have to call them back get it fixed.

SOS means that your phone is getting a signal but TMO doesn't have a roaming agreement with that carrier or region or whatever. Who knows what kind of signal you are getting though. Could be GSM, grps, GPRS,edge or EDGE which means you could have data or just be able to make phone calls.

But what you can do is go into your options, then mobile network where you can manually pick your carriers. After you search, you will be able to tell what mobile carrier you are picking up. This way when you talk to TMO CS you can find out if they have a roaming agreement with that provider.

Thanks for all the help. Did the manual search and pulled up three carriers. Now I just need to get ahold of a calling card and call CS.

If you're able to pick up any of those carriers, you should be good. The only other problem may be is that they could be only in major cities or certain regions of the country but not throughout the whole country.

claro covers allmost all the country its the better one in there.... im from guatemala thats why i know that...and do not use the calling card is cheaper if y dial directly using a cheap phone with "tigo" you can buy it for less than 25 bucks there
