Synthetic Oil

I put M1 15/50 in mine and it seems louder on the bottom end. I am kindof afraid to ride it now and thinking about going back to dino oil.

RP is a top-drawer product, but I would use 20w50. MaxCycle is fine, but like all MC-specific lubricants is overpriced and little or no better than the lower-priced counterpart of the same viscosity. I used RP 20w50 (not MaxCycle) in my old RK for 106k miles with no signs of wear, including compression and oil consumption, and it is now still rolling at 120k.

Avoid RP in the primary, as it has 250mg of moly in the formula and this is not good for the clutch disks, IMO (too slick). Moly is great for the engine but to be avoided, along with other friction modifiers, in the primary. A cheap 10w40 or 20w50 dino oil is perfect, and use either 75w90 or 85w140 gear oil for the tranny.

Would Quaker State 80W-40 GL-5 high performance gear oil for limited-slip and conventional diferentials suffice for the tranny?

There are lots of bikes with Royal Purple 20W50 full synthetic in all 3 holes, including mine. I am switching to Amsoil because I'm a local dealer now.

bikes, I hope your Amsoil business is successful. Thanks for the advice. I've about come to the conclusion that you can put almost any oil in the engine, tranny, and the primary case, as long as it provides lubrication.
