Syncing TX and Pocket PC on same computer ...

Hey all!

It's been a while since I've been on, so Happy New Year everyone!! Hope you've all been well and staying out of trouble! Anyways, I have a Palm T|X and a Ipaq 1930, and am going to invest in a Dopod Smartflip (because my Ipaq is dying and I need a cheap replacement, and am swayed by the smartphone capability!) ....

I currently have SwitchSync on my PC, which allows me to sync my Palm Desktop to Outlook (ie. my outlook will mirror changes on Palm Desktop). However, if I update something on the Pocket PC - I don't always take the T|X with me ... especially if I go out to certain places - the change obviously wont be reflected in Palm Desktop.

So was wondering, if I now start using just Microsoft Outlook as my desktop PIM, can both a Palm OS and Pocket PC device synchronize with it? Will it corrupt the PIM data??

You should be fine, but do bear in mind that you can hit issues of data consistency if you update the same record in two places, or delete it on one device but not the other, and so on.

It's different devices and software from yours, but I sync my TX and two Nokia Series 60 phones with Lotus Organizer (sometimes moving my Organizer database from the desktop PC to the laptop or vice versa!) and it's rarely a problem with the technology per se.

The only time I really found it annoying was when I went through a laborious prune of my address book on the Palm, synched the changes to the PC, then synched the phone - and it put all the deleted addresses back, because the synch software assumed that anything on the phone that wasn't on the PC must be new data.... LOL!

Reading/lurking on the Palm forum is part of my self-directed study on the use of the Palm TX. Reading the online Palm Guide is the starting point.
Drewster, I hope you have resolved all your machines and data.
Finding wi-fi establishments has been my recent endeavor because my computer overheated, made a siren sound when I tried to turn it on, then died. The Palm TX saved me because I did not miss my work-related e-mails.
My next goal is the hotsync for family photos.
