Syncing problems between address book and Composing Emails?

I have valid names and email addresses in my address book. When I go to compose an email, the Auto Complete feature usually gives me a list of people as I begin typing the first few letters of the persons name. Often times, nothing appears or only the option to "send a text message" appears. Sometimes I get an error message about not being able to sync the address book. Why is this happening and how do I resolve it. It is getting to the point where the glitches within Yahoo are preventing me from doing work and making me consider other ISPs.
