Syncing from both Outlook and Palm Desktop

I'm running the current Palm Desktop and current PocketMirror Professional to sync with my T|X. I bought PocketMirror because I read that I could sync partially from Outlook and partially from Palm Desktop but I am unable to achieve my dream configuration which is:

Calendar: Outlook
Tasks: Palm Desktop
Contacts: Palm Desktop
Memo: Palm Desktop

Frustratingly, I could swear that I had this configuration working several months ago. I recently wanted to switch to pulling Tasks from Outlook instead and in following Chapura's directions to do this have created a big mess.

Thanks for your help - Erin

I would normally try attaching some screen shots but since I'm no longer Palm OS based - I'll have to go from memory.

Set your Pocket Mirror settings to sync Outlook Calendar via the PMP settings icon and "do nothing" as default for the other PIM options.

Then go to the Hot Sync icon in your systray and then set the other items to sync to Palm Desktop.

You should actually see Calendar twice - once for Chapura Pocket Mirror and the other would be disabled for Palm Desktop. If you don't see this settings then your goofed.

You may have to reinstall the Palm Desktop software to reestablish the link to PD then install Pocket Mirror with only the Outlook option set for calendar.

I'd love to do what you suggest but I cannot get the Palm Contacts, Tasks and Memos conduits to display in either the Palm Sync list or the PocketMirror settings.

I've removed and reinstalled both apps several times; luckily the Palm Desktop file system is simple enough for me to know how to save and then move my data to the newly installed app. Though this could be where I'm goofing, now that I think about it ...

I've made sure to install the Palm Desktop first and test sync before installing PocketMirror. I've tried both Palm installation options (sync with Palm only or sync with Outlook and Palm).

Where are the conduit files stored? Is there a smart/safe way to save all Palm Desktop data (including categories) when one has to re-install the app?

TIA - Erin

You can safely export the data from the Palm Desktop via the Export function off of the File menu - be certain when exporting that you check the box that says "all files?" otherwise you'll just export the single record you were selected on......You'll have to export all of the PIM's so you are talking 4 different exports. I believe that CSV is the main option for file type export.

There is one more thing that you may want to try - a product called SwitchSync . It will allow you to sync to both programs all of the PIM data. Of course - it's another expenditure but you can check it out at the link and decide for your self.

I tried it a couple of years ago and it was OK but I never really needed to have data in both places.

Took me some time to getting around to trying SwitchSync EX but it does exactly what I want! And for only $16.95 -- a great deal.

Thank you for making this great suggestion and solving my problem :-)
