symptoms but no idea what way to turn

You mention food intolerance, have you been formally tested for Celiac Disease? Celiac blood tests (called a Celiac Panel) measure your immune system’s response to gluten in the food you eat.

tTG-IgA or tissue transglutaminase-IgA
AGA-IgG or Antigliadin IgG
AGA-IgA or Antigliadin IGA
Total IGA

The first one tTG-IgA, if positive, is highly suggestive of Celiac. The AGAs can be elevated in wheat allergy as well.

Total IGA can rule out the possibility of a primary immune problem, like Selective IGA deficiency. People with this disorder may have no symptoms, or may have recurrent problems with infections of the sinus, lung, stomach, or urinary tract.

Mesenteric adenitis usually goes away on it's own - both Celiac and/or Selective IGA Def can cause these glands to remain inflamed, even after the viral illness is gone.

hi,
thanks very much for your response. I decided to see my dr who got me to have a blood test for coeliac disease, will soon see if its that. i wasnt aware there was an actual blood test for this as no one ever told me so thanks for informing me of this! at least i know if it comes back clear it may be more lactose intolerance or IBS so can focus more on controlling that. its been so awful lately i cant even eat as i know afterwards i normally react and feel poor for the rest of the day.
thanks again!

I agree - my first thought is to get yourself on to a gluten free diet. It is not too difficult these days; it is a healthy diet, so you don't really need to be under any supervision for it, and could be just the thing. Look up the celiac and gluten-free sites on the web, there is heaps written out there. Good luck, Sera.
