Symbian OS ? one of the most successful failures in tech history

was just reading this, glad you posted it already...
I think this article backs what was discussed in other threads..
Qt development is taking priority, as it should...
the in house devs who were used to using older IDEs are being given the axe (sadly)...
the people that are good working w/ Qt and getting things ported to and from Meego/Maemo are staying...
all signs points to Meego being the new top dog...
I think Nokia will finally let s40 go, as most of us agreed they should...
 
I don't know about what the guy is saying, i wouldn't trust every thing that is said in the story. But in reality, he worked for Nokia a little over 3 years, but that was over 6 years ago. I don't have any buisness talking about a company, in fact i have absolutly no clue what happened to any company that I've worked for more than 6 years ago even if i was still in the same industry.
 
could possibly alienate a lot of users. the flipside, is it could lure alot of new people if nokia ditches s40 and replaces it with a better s60 for the low end phones. s60 is a nice upgrade for people who only use basic phones.
 
I have been saying what that article is saying for some time now.

Nokia needs to put Symbian on current Series 40 lineups like 5310 etc in fact it would be good if they could allow all those Series 40 phones to have Series 60 through an update :-)

Of course this would have to be coupled with an intense marketing campaign.

The other thing Nokia needs is a robust pin-like messaging system similar to BBM that can facilitate easily an unlimited data plan etc on its own.

In my opinion everyone is ******** on symbian but it really isnt that bad but Nokia will need to do a 360 on it for it to come back to prominence. Perception is one hell of a thing.
