Not the deepest comment on the smartphone wars, and don't expect any mind-blowing revelations, but this does paint a pretty accurate picture of who is winning what battles.

Stats here have changed dramatically over the past few months. For six months now Android tops everyone else in the US smartphone market share in terms of new sales (32%) and has reached 19% in installed base. Android has also practically leveled with the iPhone for next phone purchase. Apple is up to 8% in global share. As for apps downloaded, Apple is up to 5 to 6 billion downloads now, Android has burst past 1.5 billion so that 99% there has changed significantly.
