Symbian and Windows Mobile?

I want someone to explain what Symbian OS and Windows Mobile are. Are they seperate programs/operating systems and do they both come with downloadable apps.

Secondly I would like a comparison to the iPhone in terms of which offers more apps and which apps are cheaper. Can iPhone apps run on symbian phones and vice versa.

Basically any information regarding Symbian and Windows Mobile with particular focus on apps and furthermore how they compare with iPhone apps. thank you.
 
They both are diff types of operating systems, symbian phones has categories llike s40-normal multimedia mobiles,s60--nseries and e series of nokia comes with s60 platforms
you can install alla apps and softwares in both the o.s.es,
i-phones works with MAC-O.S, very complicated to use and latest i-phone model is 3G-S and priced around rs.47,000/--,
