swype now available for Symbian^1 phones

I find it hard to use, but I'll put in some effort to get over the learning curve.

edit:

N97 set up:
1) Install
2) Reboot
3) Go into Settings, Phone, Language
Set Phone and Writing Language to English
4) Look for the tiny keyboard icon and there should be an option for mini qwerty and full screen qwerty
 
I just downloaded Swype for my X6 and I have to say it works great. The learning curve is not hard. Sometimes when you type a word with two characters that are the same, you just have to make like a semi arc around that character,
ie. "Will, Billy" just make an arc on the "L" and you will get Will instead of the pop up box

Makes typing an email much faster, but I'm still slow at it cause I keep looking up to see if I swyped it right
 
Just downloaded this on my 97..It works great! Flawless..I can definitely see that this will almost surely replace any need for a hard keypad. Any doubts about moving forward to a device without a keypad is gone now for me. First time I've been impressed with anything on my N97 for quite some time
 
Portrait qwerty works on X6 but only on v20, not on v21.
I have it on my X6 since last night and it works VERY well. Only thing sometimes if types capital letters of words in the middle of a sentence for some reason but that's fine. I can type way faster with this keyboard too. I think this is all i need, i won't even use my X6 in landscape mode any longer since the portrait keyboard is smaller so it takes less to swype a word.

my fiance took it when she saw the Captivate so I took back my X6 from her and tried out a few things..she likes the screen and how the phone doesn't run out of memory

She doesn't like the calendar, and mail client on the Captivate...her hotmail keeps acting up on the Captivate

I'll probably sell the X6 in a few weeks so I can purchase the N8 when it comes out...I'm hoping Amazon, Dell or Newegg will have it for much cheaper
 
That was happening to me as well..I find out that if you run your finger up higher than the keypad during the "swype", it capitalizes the previous letter..I guess there's some use to that if you want to capitalize in the middle of a sentence
 
I just tried it, it works quite nicely. Can't get the shift key working in portrait mode though, but otherwise I'm quite happy with it. Also requires solid memorisation of the layout. With time I'm sure I'll get better (and I hope by that time it's for Maemo/MeeGo as well).
