A week ago my son (age 12) complained of neck pain. A couple of days later we saw a lump (swollen area about 2 inch by 1 inch) about 1 inch southeast of his left ear. That time we were travelling in Japan. I called his doctor in Hong Kong, who told me it was either one of three things: glandular fever caused by a virus, an abscess, or a tumor. The word tumor got me very worried. He also told me to bring him see a doctor in Japan as soon as he has a fever. He did not. So 2 days later we got back home, and went to see his doctor. Doctor said it was his lymph that got swollen and he ordered a blood test to test for blood count and mononucleosis. He got a slight fever which goes away as soon as he takes acetominophen. He also had headaches every now and then. Also for about a year now, as soon as he finishes eating and walks, he would have a pain in the tummy area on his left side right below his ribcage. Test results won't come out until Tuesday. I am dead worried. Comments anyone?
