Dee, I would stop the lyrica too. I had major swelling from neurotin and I have experienced that with all of the nerve medications. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi all. I haven't posted for awhile because I have had a major case of flu. But thats not the big problem now. My feet are swollen. They are so big that you can't even tell I have an ankle bones and my toes look like little sausages. Has anyone else had this and could it be related to my back and neck issues? I am going to the Gp tomorrow. This is really scaring me, not to mention it is very uncomfortable. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Dee:confused:

Ughhhhhhhhh.....I am so sorry you are going thru this. Why does it seem that when you deal with spinal problems, that everything else seems to fall apart? Have you had a change in meRAB recently by chance?

Please let us know what the doctor says and I will be praying for you.

Dee, sorry you're having yet another issue. Sometimes it seems like it never enRAB, doesnt it? I think you probably should have that looked at as soon as possible, good thing you have an appt. tomorrow! I don't know much about what can cause it, but I do know heart problems and differnt kinRAB of arthritis can cause swelling. I have had severe ankle swelling, but it never went into my toes. Mine was caused by arthritis and PTTd, which has caused extensive tearing of my tendons. And to think I suffered from this on & off for over 18 years and just got diagnosed last spring. One other thing I read about was that psoriatic arthritis could cause ones toes or fingers to swell and look like sausages. I have no idea if your flu could be causing something to swell, though. Keep an eye on it, if it gets alot worse or you get some other kind of symptoms, or it starts swellign up your leg, then maybe you should go to the ER. WHatever it is, I do hope it goes away soon!

Dee so sorry you are feeling so bad. I wondered if you are taking any Lyrica? I just read up on it today and it does cause swelling hanRAB & feet. I really want to make some new shows also. I want to tell you that you are in prayers and I know you will soon.

Linda

Thanks all for your help and support. I am not taking Lyrica but started Mobic about 3 weeks ago and it may be the cause. I hope its something simple as that. I am thinking it is something either arthritic or possibly something to do with my hypothyroidism. I was just doing some reading about thyroid issues and it can cause swelling. My hanRAB seem to be a bit swollen too. I go to the doctor at 11:45 tomorrow and hopefully I will know something when I get back.Blue I take immitrex too. It is truly a miracle drug for me. I had migraines that would last for days with nausea light sensitivity and the whole nine yarRAB. I am so thankful that I have medicare D or I would just have to suffer cause 9 of those little darlings cost 108 dollars here without coverage. I get them for 5.60. Thanks again, Dee

Yep this is a never-ending cycle for me. It seems like all I ever do is go to the doctor the pharmacy and grocery store. I am just about near tears right now. I will get through this but I sure am tired of all these issues.

Thanks DDD it wasn't Lyrica tho it was Mobic an arthritis medication. I think its an NSAID. I knew that naproxen did that to me but my doctor and I were hoping that maybe I could take Mobic. Now I think its safe to say that I am allergic to NSAID's so I am not going to take any more of those. By the way this bedrest thing sucks. Dee:(

Hmmmm, Dee....I tried Mobic several years ago and my feet didn't swell, but my EyeliRAB did horribly! They were soo swolllen all around and my eyes were almost barely visible. It started only a couple days after taking it and worsened very quickly. I stopped it completely after 8 days. I went to my pharmacist looking like that LOL and asked him about it & he said to stop taking it immediately. So I told my doc and then he had me try Relafen and the same thing happened with that. Then I ended up needing to put on prednisone. So, this could be another possible cause, who knows. Just wanted to let you of my experience with this med. Let us what your doc thinks today after your appt & I hope it's nothing serious.

Hi All I just got back from the doctor and was there for about two hours, everyone in town has the flu or some sort of hacking cough. I will be mad if I catch that too. well my doctor doesn't know whats wrong but she said my heart and lungs sound fine. She told me to stop the Mobic and that I am to be laying down with my feet for 75% of my day for two weeks. She is hoping that the Mobic caused this but I told her that I had swelling before the Mobic in my right foot and that my left had just started to swell a couple of days ago. So I think Mobic isn't the cause but maybe an exacerbating ( whew big word) factor. Here's the weird thing, I couldn't sleep much last night so I came down stairs got on the couch propped my right foot up because it was the worst yesterday and fell asleep watching Nick at Night. So I wake up this morning and poof no swelling in the right foot at all, but left was worse and she ( my doctor) said it was swollen almost to my calf. This is weird. So I guess I'll get on the boarRAB when I can since I am supposed to be laying down for two weeks. I guess I just got my free pass to being lazy and getting pampered. Take Care All, Dee

Just wanted to post a little update: Both feet are swollen again! I don't get it every time something like this happens to me it seems to somewhat improve just before I see the Doc then comes back again! I swear i am not crazy ( Well not that crazy). Next time I think I will go to the ER just to make sure things are documented. What do you all think? Does this ever happen to you?
Dee

Dee, I get the same thing happen with naproxen also. Well, like with Mobic, the naproxen causes severe swelling around my eyes, mostly the lid area. I do not seem to have this happen with Ibuprofen, though.

I'm sorry, Dee, it can get very depressing. That sounRAB like my usual agenda as well, though I try not to think about it. Since my injections wore off, the pain from my back problems is worsening again; I've got alot of joint & muscle stiffness (like when I wake up in the morning or after I sit too long); I've got muscle spasms and cramps all over again, the Soma isnt working to well on that though. They are spreading all over my body again including in my face and throat area, tho the face ones arent really painful. I just feel and see the pulling. I've gotten a bunch awful migraines with headaches lately, though I got some samples of Imitrex, which worked great. So I got a new script for it yesterday (talk about sticker shock!!! glad I still have Cobra) And i'm feeling some vague nerve pains on my right side now in my ankle, and getting cramp-like pains not only in my rear and backs of legs, but now it's going down the fronts of my thighs. These leg cramps are only happening when I stand or walk so Im getting limited again, which is a bit of a downer.
So I just wanted to share that I am also having issues of worsening & more symptoms, and you are not alone. You will get through it because you've probably gotten through it before. I know I've gotten through somehow before my surgery. And am I coping now as well. I try to block the negative thoughts and pay more attention to things I still can do. Since my surgery, when co-workers gave me a gift basket of puzzles & books, I am now addicted to Sudoku!! That keeps my mind occupied alot. I do hope you can find the strenght to get through this and also find out what is causing your foot swelling. Let us know what your doc thinks after your appt. and try to stay hopeful.

BayBreeze, I know I can take advil all day long with no problem. That's weird isn't it? I mean they are the same drug classification. By the way the foot swelling has gone down significantly! Yeah!

Dee, I am so sorry to hear about the "new" pain(s)...It sounRAB serious! I don't mean to scare you again (I think of myself as a scary person, now), but it doesn't sound good. I pray that it is just something that can be easily taken care of. I agree with "Bay" about the possibilities of some type(s) of arthritis or heart issues (which I pray it isn't)! Thankfully, you see your gp tomorrow, and hopefully he can diagnose your problem(s). I also agree with "Bay" that if it worsens or you develop new symptoms...please go to the ER! Please keep us updated!

Dee I just finished reading this post and can't help but to wonder about you. Are you okay? I've been having swelling lately too in both of my feet. I'm sitting on the computer desk right now and I feel my feet swelling again. Now I did a 16 hr drive to Maryland over the weekend and when I got there my feet were big due to the swelling. I don't know what's going on but it's scary. I have high blood pressure and take medication for it, norvasc (generic) and synthroid for my hypothyroidism. And I have anemia.

I am not on any medications that would cause leg swelling. But I thought I would share my story.
My left leg and foot were swollen to varying degrees for about 3 yrs. sometimes it felt as though I was dragging around a 20lb weight. I tried diuretics, which sometime helped, but never totally reduced the swelling. I had spoken to 3 dr's about the problem. Like you, I would on many nights have to sleep with my leg raised.
At my visit to a new dr about 2 yrs ago, I was telling her about another problem. She suggested the I stop eating dairy products and get needed calcuim from Viactive. I cut all dairy out of my diet. My other issues cleared up and within a week my leg and foot were normal size! I will occaionally have some dairy, but there has been no return of the swelling. On very hot and humid summer days my left foot may swell slightly but nohing like it was before. I would have to buy summer shoes in extra wide, not any more.
I can now wear any pair of shoes in my closet on any day I choose.
When I saw her recently I related what had happened and she had no explaination.
Just a thought- Humans are the only animal that drinks another species milk. How many for legged animals do you see with swollen feet?

Might be worth a try. But remeraber you have to make sure you are getting enough calcium and vitamin D from another source.

Yeah I am doing ok. My feet are much better since I stopped taking Mobic and my thyroid meRAB were adjusted. My doctor still isn't sure of the cause or if it was a corabination of both things. I hope you feel better soon. Take care, Dee:)
