Switching T-Mobile Phones?

My friend gave me her old sidekick because she got the Android. I want to swap out my current phone and put the Sidekick on my account. Is it like Verizon where there is an ESN that needs to be cleared? Since she swapped the Sidekick with the Android will I be able to use it on my account? Much help is appreciated. Thanks!
 
Well. It should work by just switching out the sim cards, but I think that you might also have to contact T - Mobile and notify them that you are switching phones. I think that you might be able to just go on the website and sign in and click on something under your phone that says "Not your phone?". You can ask your parents for login information.
