Hi for the past week I keep getting a sweet taste in my mouth, almost like it is coming from my saliva.

One night I fell asleep and woke up to go to the bathroom to urinate and I had the same taste in my mouth.

This is not a constant thing, it happens 2 times a day.

It is strange though, because it is a strange sweet, like it is coming from my body. Can't expain it though.

Please is this something to be concerned about???

Thanks

i would seriously see your doc for some blood work done as soon as you can? is this like what you would call a "fruity breath' type of thing? the only thing that i know of that can do this, tho there may be others has to do with the possiblity of diabetes? you just really DO need a full set of basic labs actually run, with special emphasis on where your blood sugar/glucose levels actually are right now?

have you been drinking more water than normal lately or peeing alot more than usual? do you have ANY periods of time where you just really 'feel' rather confused or not totally able to think as clearly as you used to? do you feel like you kind of feel rather "washed out' like when you have the flu at all? if ANY of these symptoms actually just fit your ongoing symptoms along with that sweet brath thing, you really just DO need that full eval to see mostly where you actual glucose levels are. the thing about undxed diabetes is your actual blood sugar levels can become very very high(hence the 'fruity breath"?) and if not recognized could casue some very major potential complications for you, some life threatening depending on how high that uncontrolled BS just gets. this happened to my hubbys neice and she just went to the doc becasue she thought she had the flku or picked up some type of virus when the whole time her BSs were just climbing to a very dangerous level in her. they sent her immediatly by ambumance to the hospital so they just could start to stabilize her there. he BS was well over the 400s by the time she got to her doc for that check up. the high end of the more normal is around like 120?

i am not trying to freak you out or scare you here lfa, just letting you know about one very specific reason that I just happen to be aware of that could give you that sweet taste in your mouth, thats all. like i said above, other things can also do this too but they also have to be checked into too. you just really DO need to get that doc appt and eval and labs done the sooner the better for you. hopefully this is just something lessor for you to have to deal with, but you just DO need those bigger possibles at least ruled out and that real underlying reason simply found and properly dxed right now. i do hope this is all okay, but please DO let me know what you find out,K? Thanks Feelbad,

The place that I work at has alot of people that come in to buy, it is an auction house. Anyway, I was telling one of our regulars that come to our auction about this, she has been coming for a long time, anyway, she is a nurse and she told me that she will be bringing one of those blood glucosometers(sp?) to check my blood. I thought that was really nice of her to do, she is a really sweet lady.

If the counts are high or not normal, then I will see a doctor.

I have just been having some weird symptoms lately and I just am not sure what to do, just like the week prior, I had a really bad headache in my right eye, it was a constant stabbing pain that just wouldn't go away and then the day the headaches stopped is when I got this new symptom of the sweet breath, I don't know if it goes hand in hand, but I will see.

I worry about being a diabetic because, My great grandmother, grandmother, had it, my sister is a borderline diabetic and my brother has been hypoglycemic for years.

Yes I am overweight which I know is not healthy or not good in all of this.

I so hope this is not what it is. I already have alot of kidney problems and someone told me that kidney problems and diabetes go hand in hand.

Well, thanks for all your information, and yes, I will let you know how the test goes and what has happened.

Thanks.

please DO keep me posted hon. just what exactly are your kidney problems about? i have a kidney disease too thats why i am asking. just how long of a wait is that blood sugar test going to be with your friend? if it is going to be more than the next few days, i really would not wait too long here to just get yourself checked out by your doc as soon as you can. if this IS a diabetic issue, your BS can become very dangerously high and very severe complications can arise from it just bing too high for too long? given your strong family history you mentioned here, well the chances are that much higher for you too unfortunetly. i seriously would not wait to much longer to get this all checked out. you just do NOT want to allow that BS to keep climbing here if this IS the underlying reason for the sweet breath? like i said, it just can be very dangerous and also could put you into whats called a diabetic coma. did not want to have to tell you that one, but this just does NEED testing and you be evaluated by your doc or any doc as soon as you can hon. your headaches could very easily be stemming from a way too out of range BS too. just get yourself looked at and tested very soon? this just IS a potentially very serious type of situation that does need evaluating and testing sooner vs later. i just would NOT wait anymore if this were me and i was showing the symptoms you are and having that strong history of it in your family too? just try and see about getting tested today or tomorrow. if you call your docs office and tell them your symptoms(espescially the ongoing sweet breath?),they will probably want you to come in right away,or you can also go to the local ER? just do not wait anymore hon, i AM worried about you here.
