sweet 7500 mile valve change

I don't think that they change out the valves. They simply adjust them, and sometimes they don't even do that (i.e., the valves are fine). Your 7500 mile tune-up including the oil, oil filter, and labor to check the valves should cost $256.88 according to Ducati North America, read more here: http://www.bikeland.org/story.php?storyID=30661. A lot of people on here spent a lot more then that. I'm not sure why. I spent close to that amount for my 7500 mile tune-up (they did not have to adjust my valves). Please post up what you end up spending so others get an idea of how much it can cost.
 
I do believe it is 256 + 294 = 550. However, you would be lucky to find a dealer charging that. I have to get mine done in the next 500mi, I think the dealer told me approx $800, I'll see if I can cut that down, ie buy my own oil and stuff and bring that with me.
 
Do your own oil change, change the coolant & bring your bike in with the tank & plastics off.. Save you a bundle in shop labor hours.. Two guy's I know took theirs in for the 7K service, valves were fine.

did anyone get the belts and spark plugs replaced at 7500? Just curious, in a light conversation with the dealer they mentioned that they recommend that. Seemed early, but I don't have the manual in front of me.
 
7,500 mi (12,000 km) service includes valve clearance check, belt adjustment and new spark plugs.
The widened range of acceptable clearances means they go to the trouble of dismantling the bike to check clearances, and don't actually change any shims. This is all about competing with other brands on service costs..
The fact is that if you get your clearances set exactly right, your bike will run better, with better economy, and your clearances will stay right for longer.
 
A buddy has his 2007 1098 in right now. They are calling it a 2 year service, not the 7500 mile. They are changing belts and spark plugs. He bought the bike used and it did not have the warranty items completed, so there's no telling what previous maintenance was performed. After having a super complete service done, it will be more comforting.
