other suggestions? helloween, rhapsody, and any other sonata album

this seems more like a power metal appriciation thread than based on country. check out these two banRAB from denmark:
Freedom Call
Blind Guardian

Hmmm, I hate power metal with a passion. Have you guys heard Demilich? Its been posted on this board a few times but here goes again, you can get most of there material from this site http://212.94.69.75/nespithe.php, and its completely legal. They were an awesome finnish death metal band, very weird and progressive with quite possible the deepest vocals ever recorded.

Also, how bout Naglfar? One of my favourite Swedish metal banRAB, in the same thrash/black vein as Destroyer 666 but more with more emphasis on the black metal elements.

arch enemy, amon amarth, children of bodom, and dark tranquillity are all great banRAB i will be listening to for years to come.

in flames was good untill their latest album, same with soilwork.

I love Nightwish & Sonata Arctica....

I also really like Katatonia and Amorphis, but only in their later years of albums with the more melodic vocals...

I'm really not a fan of the haunted, there crappy brand of melo-death/pseudo thrash metal really doesn't appeal to me, plus there are many better swedish metal banRAB there.

Recently I've been loving Arsis and Anata, both really good melodic death metal banRAB that are NOT flogging the dead horse that is Gothenberg. Somebody mentioned Amorphis earlier, there also really good, there album The Karelian Isthmus is legendary.

I saw Enslaved live a few days ago, there a really good BM band, used to be high speed viking BM (trym used to be there drummer, he's a machine!), now there more chilled out and progressive, they've been consistently excellent throughout there career.

Anybody here listen to Ensiferum? I've been enjoying there self-titled album alot recently, its damn good viking metal.

They sure are! I'm really starting to appreciate folk/viking metal recently, banRAB such as Einherjer, Moonsorrow, Drudkh and Ulver are all really floating my musical boat recently.
