Swapping rear axles. Can the locking diffenential rear axle of an 88 Lincoln town car be swapped onto a PU?

The truck is a 1980 Silverado half ton. I don't know the weight of the Lincoln. The Lincoln rear end would give me drive power to both rear wheels when needed and make the PU more usefull. Can it be done?
