A friend of mine recently had an STD test where his blood was drawn. While he was there, he said his doctor offered to take a swab test of his mouth to test for HSV-1 or cold sores. My friend said the swab test would be able to tell if he could ever got cold sores or not. He said the test results from the swab test showed that he would never get cold sores, which I guess means he is immune. Also the blood test came back negative for other STDs. So this had me wondering... Can people be immune to HSV Type 1 even if they do not have the virus? This was the first time I have heard this before. I didnt know it was possible for people to be completely resistant to getting HSV.
