SW44 on Net

Has anyone tried the sw44 that does not have the external power pack?? I've seen these on the internet and they are quite a bit cheaper than the bell website and other places. My only question is will they work??

i have one set outside my roof it was provided by bell thought and i got a 9200 and a 5900 no problem in signal degration
 
I've heard that the "unpowered" SW44s do not work as well. Not that they are really unpowered. They just take their power from the satellite receiver. How well they work depends a lot on how much power the receiver can supply. If the receiver is fully capable of supplying the power, then everything will be Ok. If not, the switches and/or LNBs will not work well and it could possibly damage the receiver.
