Suzuki Vitara Head Gasket Change =/?

My vitara is overheating and losing ALOT of coolant. It can only make it about 10 miles without overheating.

I have left the car running before and came back and hour or so later to find no coolant in it but also no wet underneath the car.

Is this the head gasket? And can I fix this myself with enough time?

I really don't want to shell out £200 quid for 4 hours work if I can do it myself in 8 for free you know?

Thanks!

Firstly make sure it is the head gasket, if it is you should be able to get any info you need from the link below for the Suzuki Vitara owners forum.

Yups its straight forward enough to replace a head gasket IF you've changed one before, Joe. Although torquing down means a lot more fiddling around, a few thousand miles down the road. but how can YOU, determine whether the head needs skimming or not?

** Label all your wires too.
