Suzuki Vitara 1999 brake problem, please help.?

I have a Suzuki Vitara 1999 and the brakes are making some odd noises. When I am driving in a straight line, the brakes squeak quite loudly, when i turn, they make a loud grinding noise. The brake pad are new and were done by the person who owned the car last.
 
I suggest you find a mechanic to take the wheels off and inspect them, if he says he has replaced the pads then he has obviously done something wrong,
