Suzuki S50 MOM/fork lock

Just got my brand new, 2007 Suzuki Boulevard S50 today. Two things, where is the MOM? The kid who delivered the bike said the manual was under the seat, but I'm not about to take the thing apart. Secondly, I'm having a problem locking the fork. Is there a secret to it? For now, my bike (the manual peddled kind) lock is going to have to do. Thanks

locking the forks is only 1% useful. you usually need to turn the steering hard left or hard right in order to engage the lock pin. get yourself a disc lock ($20) and use it ALWAYS. then, get yourself a thick proper steel cable with loops on each end, and a solid weatherproof lock, and tie the sucker securely to ANYTHIG you can find. my cable is 10 feet long so that i can tie the bike to a post, my car in the garage, another bike if i ride with a friend, etc.

Yup, the fork lock does not work with the bars turned all the way to the side. Turn the bars to the left, then back them off a little until the fork lock engages.

The manual used to be inside the sissy bar with the tool kit, so I imagine it is now inside the fake air cleaner with the tool kit. Use a quarter or flat screwdriver to open it.

The owner's manual should have been tucked in the seat. They told me the same thing about it being under the seat. IT'S NOT!!! Call the dealer and they can order you a new one.

The steering lock (and disc lock for that matter) isn't that useful, btw. 4 guys and 2 2x4's and they can just pick up the bike & slide it into a van/truck.
