If you motorcycle jumps out of gear this is what may be wrong. 1. selector forks worn, overhaul transmission 2. gear groove worn,overhaul transmission 3. gear dogs or dog slots worn or damaged. the gears should be inspected and renewed. 4. worn pawl mechanism,pawl lifter plate or holder guide plate. This info came out of a haynes manual in the trouble shooting section. To do any work on the transmission the engine has to be removed form the bike. Manual is for all 98-02 Katana's
